About Us
The story of Spruzzi, a little-known DJ at the time (only 12 years old) who was a huge fan of his older brother Claudio, who always brought good vibes to the dance floor as a DJ. Inspired by his elder role model, the young Spruzzi roamed around neighborhood 4 and scoured record shops for black gold. In the early years, he devoted himself to rock music, followed by jazz, funk, library, soul, afro, brasil, latin, rock, and oriental (from the 60s to the present), expanding his horizons and growing his record collection.
Together with his then-partner Pipo, Spruzzi opened the Switzerland’s most sought-after record store, MonoRecords, in the heart of Zurich. MonoRecords quickly became a haven for vinyl enthusiasts or a shrine for purists from around the world. The store’s exquisite record selection became widely known beyond the borders of Switzerland. Spruzzi ran the store for 12 musical years with his then-partner Pipo from 1996 to 2008. Of course, he couldn’t resist spinning records and getting the hungry crowd to dance, usually late into the night.
Today, he is still on the road with his black gold, riding his “Melanie2” motorcycle from one dimly-lit bar to another, making stops at dark and funky clubs, recharging at sunny open-air events, or attending festivals. Spruzzi is also a regular guest in radio shows, including Rundfunk.fm, Radio Lora, Kanal K, Radio Stadtfilter Winterthur, Radio SRF Virus, and Superfly.fm.
By now, Spruzzi has been collecting records for nearly 40 years, and there seems to be no end in sight. That’s why well-known DJs like Redman, Cash Money, DJ Numark, Spinna, and Cut Chemist (just to name a few) still buy their records from Spruzzi privately.
Now, MonoRecords record store can be visited again at a cultural location: Kasheme Zurich – http://www.kasheme.com/
“Following the success of Kasheme in Zurich, Spruzzi opened his second store “MoonoRecords” in Winterthur in January 2023. Located at the Roxy Vinyl Cafe, Spruzzi can be found there on some Saturdays and plays a monthly DJ set. Get lost in the vinyl treasures at MoonoRecords, a sanctuary for music lovers and collectors alike.
